The Commodity Buyer is responsible to support our supply chain. Evaluate vendor quotes and services to determine the most desirable suppliers. Required to be action oriented and provide quick & sound financial decisions.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Identify new suppliers, technologies and solutions in order to fulfill targets and KPIs.
Partner with suppliers within local and international markets to manage objectives cost, delivery, quality and safety.
Lead purchase agreement negotiations with suppliers.
Evaluate and improve costing techniques.
Clarify any financial issues that might arise.
Monitor and track supplier compliance to delivery due dates. Identify risks to late delivery of product and escalate issues with supplier until resolution. Initiate immediate discussion with Supplier on impact of delay and provide recovery efforts to avoid interruption in supply.
On-going analysis of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) including customer on-time delivery performance, delivery service transit days, logistics costs as percentage of product cost, and other pertinent performance reporting.
Highly self-driven with demonstrated accountability and ownership. Functions effectively under pressure in environments of rapid change and conflicting demands. Demonstrated ability to balance competing priorities. Demonstrates a sense of urgency in meeting goals.
Excellent oral and written communication skills including confidentiality, interpersonal skills, presentation skills and an ability to use a variety of communication tools. Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization, especially senior managers and other key decisions makers.
Passionate about opportunities to establish new approaches to supply chain network planning.
Broad supply chain experience, such as sourcing of PCBA’s, plastics, castings, extrusions, and components, new product introduction, operations planning, factory management outsourcing, and manufacturing partnerships.
Experience in supply management that includes material management, procurement, manufacturing processes, quality processes, and logistics.
Experience integrating sourcing, planning, manufacturing and logistics milestones and processes into total product life cycle.
Exceptional interpersonal and communications (verbal and written) skills.
Minimum 2-5 years’ experience in buyer/purchaser role with proven experience in large purchasing volume.
Demonstrated success in understanding purchasing agreements, cost models, negotiation strategy, balancing business profitability and customer needs.
Demonstrated continuous improvement and quality methodology skills. Recommends and drives improvement about the industry (pricing, trends, competitors, value drivers, etc.)
Strong PC computer skills (MS Office) required, QuickBooks and Salesforce.com knowledge preferred.
Valid driver’s license, ability to obtain passport and travel as needed to meet business objectives.
